Terms of use

Last updated 26 August 2026

Despicable turns a sentence into a browser extension. These terms cover what we owe you, what you owe us, and — most importantly — who is responsible for the code that comes out.

The extensions are yours

You own everything Despicable generates for you: the manifest, the scripts, the styles, the icons. We claim no licence over them. Publish them, sell them, rewrite them, or delete them.

This also means you are the author for every purpose that matters. If you submit an extension to the Chrome Web Store, it is published under your developer account, subject to Google’s policies, and you are the one who answers for it.

The code is generated, and you must read it

Extensions are written by a language model. They are frequently correct and sometimes wrong, and a browser extension is among the most privileged things you can install — it can read the pages you visit.

We show you every file and every permission before you install anything, which is deliberate: you are expected to look. Installing an extension is your decision and your risk. If a generated extension breaks a site, loses data, or does something you did not intend, that is on the person who installed it.

What you may not build

Do not use Despicable to make anything that:

  • collects someone’s data without their knowledge — keystrokes, credentials, browsing history, messages
  • impersonates another extension, site or company, or misrepresents what it does in its listing
  • injects advertising, affiliate codes or redirects into pages the user did not ask to alter
  • circumvents paywalls, licensing or authentication belonging to someone else
  • breaks the law where you or your users are

We may refuse a request or close an account over any of the above, and we do not need to explain which one.

The service itself

Despicable is provided as it is, with no guarantee that it is available, correct, or that a given extension will work. We may change or stop it. Model providers are not run by us and their limits are not ours to promise around.

Our liability is limited to what you have paid us, which today is nothing.

Your account

You sign in with Google. Keep that account secure, because anything done through it is treated as done by you. You can delete your account and everything in it from settings at any time.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and we say so in the product. Continuing to use Despicable after that means you accept the new version.
